HOLLY JEAN came to fruition in 2008, when pregnant with her first child, Holly Sherman wanted to combine motherhood with her long term ambition of starting a small business.
Not having a Grandmother in her life who was crafty, Holly saw a gap in the market for people like her who would love to be given an heirloom patchwork quilt to be handed down through the generations.
Other products grew from there, including the hugely popular patchwork blankets, gorgeous bibs and stylish breast feeding covers.
The inspiration for HOLLY JEAN also came from a willingness to create stylish and unique products designed to complement a modern parent’s home and lifestyle, whilst also appealing to a child.
Aware of the distinct trend that has grown over the last couple of years of the demand for hand made children’s products that are individual and unique in nature, Holly wanted to develop products in line with her passions and self-expression, and move away from the mass-produced.
It was important that products were limited edition and to compliment this, Holly came up with a unique idea of placing swing tags on each item stating how many products within that range were made (ie 1/20, 2/20 etc) - just like a piece of artwork. This particular idea was drawn from her brother Luke's love of art.
Another important component to the HOLLY JEAN brand is that it is proudly designed and made in Australia. Being acutely aware of the demise in Australian manufacturing, Holly was passionate about keeping things local. Choosing not to manufacture off shore also meant greater quality control and more creative power.
In July 2010 Holly welcomed Lily into the world then in March 2013 came along Evie. THEN in December 2016, a fourth (and last!) child Oliver arrived! Blessed with four gorgeous (busy!) children, Holly’s products have been tried and tested!
